RAHIM YAR KHAN: Notorious dacoit gangs e.g. Dashti Gang, Indher Gang, Lund Gang and Nawab Sikhani Gang are allegedly active in various areas of Rahim Yar Khan again, as a marked rise in kidnap for ransom and robbery instances in the area has been noticed.

Said to have come into existence after the eradication of the notorious Chotu gang, these gangs have been accused of killing many people including Shabbir Baghani, Nasir Malik and PML-N councillor Jam Rafiq Ahmed Jhuk in the last two weeks during kidnap attempts, mainly near the Sui Gas Link Road.

According to the residents, some of these dacoits openly demand a share in the 5,000 acres of sugarcane crop in the kacha area. They also said that these alleged criminals are usually not reported to the police because of retaliation fears.

One of the residents, while talking to a local media outlet accused the police of not registering a case when his brother was killed by one of these gunmen.  According to the residents these dacoits have now become active in this area due to the closing down of the police check posts in the Kacha area of Rajanpur, such as Kacha Razi, Chak Charagh Shah, Basti Kathani, Kacha Karachi, Dera Sardar Farooq Mazari, Basti Chattha and Dera Irfan Khan Mazari.
