ASA demands regular VC at Punjab University

The Academic Staff Association (ASA) has urged Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif to urgently appoint a regular vice chancellor (VC) at the Punjab University and direct the Higher Education Department (HED) to advertise the post immediately so that the appointment process could start.

In a press release issued here on Monday, they association said that without a regular vice chancellor the research and academic activities were suffering, something that the ASA has already expressed its serious concern about through a resolution passed by its Executive Body.

The ASA again strongly demanded immediate advertisement of the vice chancellor post and that no further ad hoc appointment to this post would be acceptable to the teachers any more. It said that such situation at the university could not continue any further and that no back door sneaking to another ad hoc appointment would be tolerated.
