US policies serving India’s interests in the region: JI chief

Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the US policies for the region were promoting terrorism and Pakistan and Afghanistan would have to join hands to wipe out the menace.

He was talking to the media at Khyber Teaching Hospital here where he enquired after the health of those injured in Saturday’s terrorist activity at the Agricultural Training Institute. He also visited the houses of those martyred in the incident and condoled with the bereaved families.

Sirajul Haq said that the US defence secretary was coming with a harsh message. However, he said that Washington must be given a clear message that the time to “do more” was over and this country was not ready for that. He said the US policies were serving India’s interest and outside powers were involved in terrorist in this country.

India was carrying out terrorist activities in this country by making Afghanistan a facilitator. He said that Pakistan had not declared war against any country.

The JI chief said the US efforts to increase India’s influence in Afghanistan and establish India’s supremacy in the region had ruined the peace in South East Asia. He stressed upon Pakistan and Afghanistan to prepare a joint line of action to stop the killing of innocent people on their soils.

The JI chief said the US must be made to believe that as long as the US and NATO troops were present in Afghanistan and India continued interfering in the affairs of Afghanistan due to US patronage, peace could not be established in the region.

He said that India was sending her saboteurs in this country through Afghanistan in order to increase tensions between the two neighbouring states and shatter bilateral trust. He said the US efforts to make India a regional policeman and pressurise this country were most intolerable. He said it was due to toeing the US line that Pakistan was witnessing the day when her citizens and security forces were being targeted and the blame of terrorism was also laid on this country.

He said there was similarity in the terrorist attacks at APS Peshawar and the Agricultural Training institute and added that the security institutions should keep a strict watch at the Afghan border. He said that the terrorists attacking this country had their hide-outs in Afghanistan and as long as these hide-outs were not wiped out, Pakistan could not be secured from terrorist attacks.

Earlier, while addressing a workshop for the Ulema and the Khatibs at Mansoora, Sirajul Haq said that the pulpit should be used to promote love and brotherhood. He said that those spreading hatred and biases were ignorant of the teachings of Islam as a universal and collective system. He said that the Seerat of the Holy Prophet taught good dealings even with the enemy.
