KARACHI: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has started an enquiry into the alleged illegal purchase of land for Defence Housing Authority City on Super Highway.
According to NAB, the officials of Jamshoro revenue department sold state land showing it as private property for DHA City, work on which is underway on Super Highway, near Karachi and Jamshoro.
The land, spread over 700 acres, was purchased by the DHA authorities in 2015, NAB stated.
As the enquiry was underway, NAB decided to include officials of Jamshoro revenue department in the probe for their alleged role in the sale of state-owned land for DHA City.
A few days back, NAB officials summoned the then administrator of DHA, Brigadier (r) Zubair Ahmed, along with relevant documents. The former administrator had recorded his statement before NAB, however, enquiry in the case in still under way, sources said.
Phase IX of the housing authority, also called DHA City, is being constructed along the Super Highway, which also touches Jamshoro district of Sindh.
