KARACHI: Karachi Development Authority’s (KDA) anti-encroachment department demolished three marriage halls and a school built illegally on amenity plots in Federal B area of the city on Monday.
KDA’s anti-encroachment drive was kicked off after an order from the Supreme Court in which it expressed anger and concern over the massive encroachment by marriage halls and other buildings on spaces reserved for welfare plots. The court ordered KDA to retrieve the amenity plots.
During its operation on Monday, KDA razed three marriage halls and a school built illegally in Block-3, Block-5 and Block-6 of Federal B area.
Earlier on Sunday, the authority had also demolished four marriage halls and a building in North Karachi.
