HYDERABAD: Jamshoro district Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has initiated an enquiry into the suspected irregularities in the Sindhi Adabi Board.
In a letter written on Friday, ACE’s enquiry officer Muneer Ahmed Soomro asked the chairman of the board to submit the required records by December 6. The officer asked the board to provide details of the sale of an unspecified number of printing machines sold during the tenures of Inam Shaikh and Aijaz Mangi as the board’s secretaries.
The enquiry officer also asked the board to submit the lists of appointments, promotions and seniority from July 2005 to June 2008. ACE also required the departmental inquiries which were conducted with regard to the sale of machines, appointments and promotions.
Sindh Adabi Board’s functions include publishing books on Sindhi subjects and translating works of literature, poetry, philosophy, history and mysticism (Sufism) from other languages into Sindhi. It was founded as Central Advisory Board for Sindhi Literature in 1940 and later renamed as Sindhi Adabi Board in 1951.
