Pakistan skipper Sarfraz Ahmed recently revealed that Team India captain Virat Kohli was one step ahead of England skipper Joe Root in terms of the fitness level.

Speaking to Geo Super, the ICC Champions Trophy-winning captain said that both of them were outstanding players despite 29-year-old Kohli being one step ahead.

When asked about why he never played the helicopter shot, he said that he will play the shot automatically when a yorker delivery came his way.

Sarfraz Ahmed led from the front as he helped his team beat India by 180 runs in the final of the ICC Champions Trophy. Earlier in the tournament, when both the teams met in the group stage, India had defeated Pakistan by 124 runs through the Duckworth-Lewis method.

After the conclusion of the eight-team tournament, Sarfraz Ahmed was named captain of the ICC Champions Trophy XI, a team which had Virat Kohli and pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar from India.

Recently, former Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar had praised the Delhi batsman, referring to the gesture after the ICC Champions Trophy final, where Kohli went up to Pakistan’s dressing room and congratulated the team.

Virat Kohli is currently playing the third Test against Sri Lanka, where his team won the toss and are batting first. Towards the end of day one, India are in a commanding position, having lost just two wickets.
