LAHORE: Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday has declared the petition against anti-judiciary statements of ex-prime minister Nawaz Sharif during Lahore rally admissible. The court also ordered clubbing a petition filed against his daughter Maryam Nawaz on the same ground.

Justice Shahid Karim of LHC heard a petition filed by advocate Azhar Siddiq on behalf of Amna Malik

The counsel of the petitioner said that Nawaz Sharif was continuously targeting the judges and harshly criticising them instead of commenting on the judgment. Justice Karim enquired the petitioner’s counsel as to why they don’t approach the Supreme Court over the issue. Upon this, the counsel said that the LHC can also hear the case.

The court directed clubbing the petition with a similar petition pending against Maryam Nawaz. The petitioner has submitted in her petition that Nawaz Sharif was continuously committing contempt of court. She added that giving statement against judiciary was against the law and constitution.

She further said that such statement of Nawaz Sharif might create chaos and disorder in the country.

The petitioner pleaded the court to order contempt of court proceeding against the former prime minister.
