- Islamabad police chief says he is proud of force’s achievements
RAWALPINDI/ISLAMABAD: On special directives of Inspector General of Punjab Police Arif Nawaz, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Welfare Waseem Sial on Thursday visited the Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) and the Holy Family Hospital (HFH) to enquire after the health of the policemen who were injured during the Faizabad operation.
City Police Officer (CPO) Israr Ahmed Khan Abbasi, Rawal Division SP Behram Khan and other officers were present on the occasion. The CPO briefed the visiting senior officials about the medical facilities being provided to the police personnel admitted to the hospitals.
The DIG directed the authorities to arrange best possible medical care for the wounded officials.
Speaking on the occasion, he encouraged the policemen, saying that they were an asset of the police force and the department would provide all-out support to those facing difficult time as he distributed cash among the cops.
ISLAMABAD POLICE SYMBOL OF DETERMINATION: Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police Muhammad Khalid Khattak said Islamabad police were determined to ensure the protection of life and property of citizens.
Speaking during a darbar (grand meeting) and lunch attended by officers and officials of Islamabad police at Police Lines, he said the capital police were the best professional force and he was proud of its achievements.
The police officials never hesitated in sacrificing their lives in the line of duty, he said, adding the police have always fulfilled their legal obligations and will continue to do so.
The IG said all possible financial assistance would be extended to those police officers and personnel who were injured in the recent sit-in at Faizabad.
He said suggestions given to him during the meeting would be used for formulating the future strategy, adding such meetings will be held every month.
He said protection of life and property of citizens was the prime responsibility of Islamabad police and the force will overcome all challenges related to crime, law and order, and security with the help of citizens of the city.
Inspector General Khattak said some of the police personnel were severely injured and one constable Israr Ahmed had lost his eyes during the deployment at Faizabad; however, the determination and resolve of these injured policemen was still strong.
He said police officers would visit the homes of the injured and would extend all kind of help to them. “Islamabad police is a symbol of determination, resolve and courage and it will remain committed to its goal of serving people of Islamabad,” he added.
