QUETTA: A ‘winter safety campaign’ was launched on Tuesday by The Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to spread awareness among the masses about how to use appliances, especially gas heaters, in a better, safer manner.
This campaign was launched in a ceremony held at the local press club, mainly attended by the local ulema. Major topics of discussion included safe use of heaters and hazards of natural gas theft.
Major ulema including Maulana Abdul Rahim Hai, Maulana Syed Habibullah Shah Chishti, Taj Agha of Anjuman Tajiran-i-Quetta, etc attended the campaign launch ceremony.
Acting Senior General Manager Saeed Ahmed Larik requested the local ulema to raise awareness about the consequences of natural gas theft amongst the masses so that this problem could be tackled in an effective manner.
On this occasion, the general manager also appreciated the ulema’s efforts in spreading awareness about the safety measures for gas usage. He said these efforts resulted in a drastic decline in death rate due to accidents.
He asserted that SSGC followed international gas measurement standards and denied the notion that gas meters ran fast resulting in faulty readings.
Ulema suggested that the SSGC should launch these awareness campaigns in even the smallest towns in Sindh and Balochistan so that more people could be benefited.
Maulana Mukhtar Ahmed Habibi, Maulana Abdul Rahim Rahimi, Mufti Ahmed Khan and Maulana Ahmed Raza Qambrani and Abdul Qayyum Kakar were also present at the symposium.
