Shireen Mazari distances herself from daughter’s anti-army rant

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shireen Mazari has distanced herself from daughter Imaan Hazir Mazari’s anti-army video that has been making rounds on social media, saying that she condemns the use of abusive language by her daughter against the armed forces of the country.

In a move that was sure to surprise the right wing PTI leadership, daughter of one of the most important party members, Shireen Mazari made a video that spread like wildfire on social media sites.

The video shows Imaan Mazari, criticising the role of the army in the Faizabad sit-in and the aftermath of a botched operation by the federal government.

Imaan states,

“Army only understands the language which terrorists like Khadim Rizvi have been using….. it doesn’t understand what common people are trying to say in docile tones.”

In very strong and harsh words, Imaan continues condemning the role of the army in the Faizabad operation, especially the act of distributing money to the arrested members of Tehreek Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah (TLYR).

She says,

“The army has self- serving motives and the masses need to be cautioned against them”.

Shireen Mazari has deemed the video personal opinions of Imaan and has distanced herself from the narrative of her daughter, stating that while she loves Imaan, she also completely disagrees with the viewpoint she presented.
