LAHORE: An accountability court on Wednesday sentenced former Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited manager Zulfiqar Chaudhary to 12 days of physical remand in a corruption case.

National Accountability Bureau (NAB) officials had produced the accused before accountability court judge Justice Imtiaz Hussain, and charged him for having misused his authority to the detriment of the national exchequer.

They accused the former bank manager of obtaining counterfeit loans using the names and identity cards of mentally retarded people.

The court handed over the accused to NAB on a 12-day physical remand and directed to produce him again on expiry of the remand term.

NAB had started the inquiry against the accused following a complaint lodged by the Lahore Zonal branch in October, 2017.
