Foolproof security arrangements in place for Eid Milad-un-Nabi processions: CCPO

LAHORE: Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Captain (retd) Amin Wains said on Wednesday that foolproof security arrangement will be ensured on Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).

He instructed all superintendents of police (SPs), deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) and station house officers (SHOs) to meet the organisers of ceremonies and events scheduled for the eve of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW).

He was addressing a high-profile meeting of senior police officers to review the security arrangements for the upcoming auspicious occasion. Those attending the meeting included Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Investigation Chaudhary Sultan, DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf, SSP Rai Ijaz Ahmad, SSP Operations Muntazir Mehdi, SSP Discipline Tariq Aziz, SSP Investigation Ghulam Mubashir Maken, all operations and investigations SPs, Security SP Muhammad Nadeem, SP Mujahid Faisal Shehzad, SP Headquarters Atif Nazir and SP CIA Nadeem Abbas.

The CCPO further said that fifteen thousand police personnel would perform their duties on the eve of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (SAW). He said that sensitive mosques and imambargahs had been divided into three categories for better handling the security arrangements. Lahore Police would provide security to all processions while the cops of the dolphin force and police response unit would ensure effective patrolling around sensitive mosques and important roads of the city.

He further said that law and order situation in the city was satisfactory and the police were extremely committed to curbing crime from it.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Haider Ashraf said that the security plan has been planned by the responsible officers. He said that the Lahore police would be surveying all sensitive points of the city continuously through CCTV cameras.
