ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday directed the federation and provincial government of Balochistan to submit implementation report on recommendations made in the Quetta Inquiry Commission report and disposed of a part of the case regarding endowment fund, hosing scheme and jobs.

The court remarked that it wanted to know about the stance of federal and provincial governments regarding the recommendations made by Justice Qazi Faez Isa Commission.

A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa and comprising Justice Dost Muhammad Khan and Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel heard the suo moto case regarding the tragic incident of the Civil Hospital Quetta.

During the proceedings, Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa remarked that the things were going in the right direction and there was no need for further delays in the case. “The matter of housing scheme and endowment fund is near solution as provincial government looks active to resolve the issues of the lawyers’ community,” he added.

Appearing before the bench, the Balochistan advocate general submitted an implementation report on recommendations made by the Quetta Inquiry Commission. The court after reviewing the report termed it satisfactory.

The petitioner told the bench that the issue of Quetta trauma centre had not yet been resolved. Upon this, Justice Khosa remarked that the court could not monitor the recruitment process in hospital rather it could issue directions only.

Justice Dost Muhammad Khan directed to issue notices to those doctors who did not comply with the direction of the administration.

During the course of proceedings, Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa additional advocate general told the court that the victims of the Mardan blast wanted compensation equal to that given to the victims of Quetta blast because they had also been affected badly by terrorism.

Justice Khosa remarked that every segment of society was affected by terrorism but we could not treat every incident in comparison with the Quetta blast. He asked that whether the KP government could cooperate in a way as the Balochistan government had done. Later, the hearing of the case was adjourned till January 8.
