Citing horrific criminal incidents of knife-wielding man and Ansarul Sharia that were carried out on motorcycles, Siyal said that the excise department would be directed to install number plates on the front of motorbikes also.

The home minister apprised the meeting that steps were being taken to outsource hotline 15.

Expressing satisfaction over depletion of crimes graph, he said, “Earlier, heinous crimes like kidnapping for ransom were rampant and now only street crimes take place and that too has slumped lately.” He said that measures were being taken to improve law and order situation in SITE area and the shortage of the number of policemen would also be resolved.

Expressing apprehensions over wall-chalking, Siyal said that graffiti and use of loudspeakers were banned under the National Action Plan. “Graffiti is being inscribed on walls during the night. Strict action would be taken against those doing wall-chalking to deface the city,” he added.
