Third CPEC Media Forum begins in Islamabad today

The 3rd CPEC Media Forum, initiated by the Pakistan-China Institute in collaboration with the Embassy of China and its Chinese Media partner, the China Economic Network, will be held today (Monday), at Serena, Islamabad, at 10am.

New Ambassador of China to Pakistan, HE Yao Jing will give a keynote speech, while Minister for Maritime Affairs Senator Mir Hasil Bizenjo will be the chief guest. Parliamentary Committee on CPEC Chairman Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed will also make the opening speech.

Apart from the inaugural and closing sessions, there will be two interactive sessions in the morning and the afternoon focusing on promoting an Information and Cultural Corridor through the media to support and supplement the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The chief guest at the concluding session will be Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb and she will also present shields to the participants of the seminar. Hafiz Tahir Khalil, President of the CPEC Media Forum, will also make a presentation.

The sessions will also be addressed by the visiting 7-member media delegation from China including Tang Mengsheng, Director, Pakistan Studies Centre, Peking University and Prof. Li Xiguang, Director, Pakistan Centre, Tsinghua University, Beijing as well as by Sarmad Ali, Managing Director, Jang Group and Asif Salahuddin, CEO, INP news agency.

Representing the Government of Pakistan, there will be presentations by Hassan Daud, Director, CPEC Cell, Ministry of Planning and Dr. Shahid Rasheed, head of CPEC Centre for Excellence of PIDE.

Two research monograph of the Pakistan China Institute will be launched during the Forum and the 2018 Work Plan of the CPEC Media Forum will also be discussed.
