KARACHI: The three-day 18th National Pediatric Conference 2017 organised by Pakistan Pediatric Association (PPA) (Sindh) kicked off at Sukkur IBA.
Member National Assembly (MNA) Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, PPA (Sindh)President and Chairman Organising Committee Professor Jamal Raza, General Secretary Chief Coordinator of the Conference Professor Khalid Shafi and PPA Treasurer Professor MN Lal inaugurated the conference.
The theme of the conference is ‘Equity in Child Health’. The aim of the conference is to provide a platform to paediatricians to exchange ideas and broaden their visions by sharing knowledge, skill and experiences.
Khursheed Shah, speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, said that government would soon establish maternal and neonatal health hospitals in every district of Sindh. Recently, the government has increased the budget of medicines 500 times.
He further said that Pakistan is the 3rd world country with utmost talent.
Health Secretary Dr Fazlullah Pecheho said that Sindh government is very keen to focus on child health issues and its progress through various strategies to reduce childhood mortality. “It is encouraging to see the significant improvement in under 5-year mortality in comparison to 1990, but we need to work hard for under 5-year children,” he said.
