ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) on Sunday demanded Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal’s resignation, accusing him of mishandling the Faizabad sit-in.
PTI’s General Secretary Jahangir Khan Tareen said in a statement that instead of resolving the crisis the interior minister continued making empty talks. “It is necessary he separates himself from ministry now,” he was quoted as saying.
He further said due to the minister’s failure, the situation reached to the point that the army had to be called in by the government.
The PTI leader accused the government of silencing the media and then went on to ban social media, demanding the government withdraw such undemocratic decisions.
