ISLAMABAD: A senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Sunday refuted the reports of former interior minister Ch Nisar Ali Khan’s escape in an armoured vehicle during the attack at his residence on Saturday.

Nisar was staying at his place in Islamabad due to three-week long protests at the junction of Islamabad and Rawalpindi—Faizabad Interchange, the PML-N leader said.

He also thanked all the concerned people who called to enquire after the ex-minister’s safety.

On Saturday, a group of religious fanatics vandalised the residence of Nisar and resorted to pelting stones at police and guards stationed at the residence.“The protestors tried to attack the minister’s house because of which the main gate and walls of the house were damaged,” the party leader said, adding the irate men had broken the main gate and tried to enter the premises but were confronted by police and security guards. However, they had managed to set fire to the garden.
