KU, SMIU suspend educational activities, exams scheduled to be held on Monday

KARACHI: The Karachi University administration on Sunday announced that examinations scheduled to be held on Monday have been postponed owing the volatile law and order situation prevailing in the metropolis.

Vice-Chancellor, Dr Jamal further stated that a date for the examinations will be announced later.

Moreover, the Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) also declared that all interviews and educational activities scheduled to be held on Monday had been suspended, the public relations officer of the university informed local media outlet.

Meanwhile, in view of the prevailing law and order situation in the country, Punjab Education Minister, Rana Mashood had earlier announced on Sunday that educational institutes will remain closed throughout the province on Monday and Tuesday.

He further stated that it may be likely that the closure is extended and a fresh notification announcing the resumption of educational activities will be issued once the law and order situation in the province improves.

Protests erupted country-wide after the federal government initiated an operation against the protesters in Faizabad in Islamabad on Saturday. Following the initiation of the operation, protesters took to the streets blocking roads  in major cities of the country, causing inconvenience for the locals.
