QUETTA: At least four people were reportedly killed and 19 were wounded when a suicide bomber hit the Frontier Corps vehicle on Saturday in Quetta.
The blast targeting the FC vehicle also damaged nearby three rickshaws and motorcycles.
Most of the victims died in the blast were civilians, including a child, said Quetta Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Police Abdul Razzaq Cheema while confirming that the blast seemed to have been the result of a suicide attack.
The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital Quetta, while those critically injured were transferred to the Trauma Centre.
The power of the blast rattled the entire Sariab Road area, instigating shopkeepers in the area to pull down their shutters; traffic was also suspended.
Law enforcement agencies cordoned off the attack site and started an investigation.
Quetta’s Sariab Road is considered to be one of the most sensitive areas of Quetta that has been a target of militants— belonging to different organisations—attacking the security forces for over a decade.
