Sindh governor asks authorities to ensure adequate arrangements for Eid Milad-un-Nabi

KARACHI: Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair on Thursday chaired a meeting to review the security arrangements being made for Eid Milad-un-Nabi in the metropolis.

Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhter, Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) AD Khowaja, Karachi Additional Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Mushtaq Ahmad Mahar and officials from other concerned departments along with local religious leaders attended the meeting.

The participants presented their respective reports about the arrangements being made for the occasion, including security, maintenance of law and order, cleanliness and uninterrupted power supply to sites designated for congregation and procession routes.

The governor paid tributes to policemen and rangers for their contributions in protecting the lives and properties of citizens, amidst the threat of terrorism, saying that the masses could never forget the sacrifices made by personnel belonging to law enforcing agencies to protect their countrymen at the cost of their own lives.

He also acknowledged and urged the continuation of religious scholars’ cooperation in forging unity among people and inculcating in them the virtues of peace, tolerance and sacrifice.

He also asked the Sindh police department to arrange alternative traffic routes to keep people from facing any difficulties. Moreover, he asked officials of K-Electric to keep the city administration updated on its arrangements for meeting the additional power load during Rabi-ul-Awal and the local government officials to ensure adequate cleanliness across the metropolis.
