ISLAMABAD: Rubbishing Indian claims of a lack of seriousness on Pakistan’s part on the release of Jamaatud Dawa chief Hafiz Saeed, Pakistan on Friday said it remained committed to the implementation of the United Nations Security Council Resolution 1267.
In response to a question regarding comments made by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs on the release of Saeed, the Foreign Office, while rejecting the self-serving insinuations of India, said that Pakistan remained committed to the implementation of the UNSC Resolution 1267.
Pakistan has taken several steps in implementing the sanction regime in compliance with the resolution, the FO spokesperson said in a statement issued here.
The FO said the courts in Pakistan, pursuant to their constitutional duty, were determined to uphold the rule of law and due process for all citizens of Pakistan.
Stressing the need for a fair trial, the spokesperson said it was in the interest of all states to speak and act in a manner consistent with the imperatives of adhering to the rule of law at the national and international levels.
Pakistan’s resolve against terrorism was unmatched in the world, the spokesperson said, adding Pakistan condemned and opposed all forms of terrorism by any individual or group.
Pointing out the atrocities committed by India forces in held-Kashmir, the FO spokesperson said Pakistan opposed and condemned acts of terrorism inside Pakistan and elsewhere by India, who claimed to be a champion of democracy.
