CTD nab accused, weapons recovered

KARACHI: Sindh Police’s Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has claimed to have arrested Muttahida Qaumi Movement-London (MQM-L) unit in-charge during a raid in Mehmoodabad.

CTD SSP Naveed Khawaja, while addressing a press conference in his office said that accused Arshad Mughal was a ghost employee of the KMC who used to get his salary without reporting for duty.

He said that the police also recovered a big cache of arms and ammunition after information was provided by the arrested accused.

He further said after the accused confessed about dumping weapons in an underground water tank in Haji Hanif Shaheed Park, the police recovered five 7MM rifles, two repeaters, one LMG, five Kalashnikovs, three rifles, and different types of 516 rounds.

A case was registered against him and the police started further investigation.
