Jamaat e Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has said that the masses, the judiciary and the parliament could wipe out corruption from the country through joint efforts.
He was talking to the media here outside the Supreme Court on Thursday after the hearing of a petition filed by the JI for the trial of 436 other people named in the Panama leaks.
Sirajul Haq said the nation wanted across-the-board accountability as the country could not be put on the right track without it. He said the disqualification of the former prime minister in the Panama leaks case was a historic decision. However, he said the JI wanted to evolve a system as would help wipe out the corruption once for all.
JI deputy chiefs Asadullah Bhutto and Mian Muhammad Aslam were also present on the occasion.
He said the corrupt people had taken refuge in different political parties and it was the responsibility of political parties to throw them out.
The JI chief said that the present exploitative system was protecting the interests of the feudal lords and capitalists while the poor masses were deprived of even the basic rights of life. However, he said the JI had always adopted the right track which guaranteed national security and the well-being of the people.
Sirajul Haq said that whoever had plundered the public money should be in Adyala jail instead of in the corridors of power and the looted public wealth should be recovered from him.
He said the rulers had been exposed and punished because of the Panama leaks and it was an opportunity for the masses to reject the corrupt elite and vote for the JI candidates for a bright and prosperous future.
