Islamabad authorities continue operation against illegal constructions

ISLAMABAD: Following the directives of Islamabad Mayor and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz, CDA has commenced a massive operation against illegal constructions in Sector B-17 of the federal capital.

The operation is being supervised by building control-II director, enforcement director, CDA magistrate and officers of concerned formations of CDA and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI).

Aziz commented that the owners involved in illegal construction activities had been served with notices while they were also warned through public notices in the newspapers. However, due to non-compliance of these owners, CDA had finally started an operation against the illegal construction activities in Sector B-17, he added.

The buildings sealed by CDA due to illegal constructions include Capital Square Plaza, Makka Heights, Rahat Mall and Zaka Mall. CDA is not only sealing buildings illegally constructed in the vicinity but also formulating action plans against such owners as do not seek approvals of their building plans from CDA. The purpose of this act is to discourage illegal construction activities and to ensure the safety of investors’ money by ensuring that they only invest in management-approved projects.

Aziz said that the operation against illegal construction activities and encroachments would be carried out indiscriminately as the management was committed to providing a clean, green and healthy environment to the city’s inhabitants and their generations. He said that their prime responsibility was to restore the natural shape of Islamabad for which all legal formalities would be used.

The mayor further said that it was the first time that CDA had started gigantic operations against illegal construction activities and encroachments in the city to ensure development of the city as per master plan. He added that CDA has already sealed buildings including Meriden Heights, Tuba Heights, Tuba Heights-II, Mustafa Tower, Prime Heights, Awan Arcade, Qartaba Heights, Apollo Heights, Islamabad Heights, Capital Residentia and other illegal structures in Sector E-11.

The owners of these buildings have already been asked to get their building plans approved by CDA, and they have been warned that non-compliance of these orders would lead to strict legal action being taken against them. The Islamabad mayor warned general public to refrain from any kind of investment in these projects, adding that people would themselves be responsible if they incurred a loss on their investments.
