KARACHI: A fire that erupted in a wood market in Orangi Town area of the city, early on Thursday, was put out by firefighters.
Five fire brigade vehicles were deployed to douse the fire while further fire tenders were sought after there was insufficient water to douse it completely.
At least ten among the approximate two dozen shops in the market have been completely charred.
Residential apartments next to the wood market were evacuated due to the danger of the fire spreading further.
No casualties have been reported, although items worth millions were destroyed by the fire and were reduced to ashes.
The fire is said to have been caused by short-circuiting.
