SHC grants protective bail to co-accused in Parween Rahman murder case

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Tuesday granted interim protective bail to a co-accused in Perween Rahman murder case, according to media reports.

Ayaz Ali aka Ayaz Swati was accused of shooting dead Rahman on March 13, 2013, in Peerabad, along with four other people.

The court, while granting the applicant bail for seven days, asked him to ensure his appearance before the trial court.

According to media reports, it has been revealed that Parween Rahman was gunned down for reward money of Rs4 million.

One of the suspects of the Parveen Rehman murder case Amjad Hussain has confessed before Joint Investigation team (JIT) that suspects Rahim Swati and Awami National Party leader Ayaz Swati were seeking land for construction of a gym from Rehman but when she refused to give it away, she was killed by a banned outfit for reward money.

Suspect further claimed that planning for the murder was done at the house of Rahim Swati. He added that he was present during that meeting along with Ayaz Swati, Rahim Swati and Ahmad alias Pappu.

“Rahim Swati contacted Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) regional members Musa and Mehfooz Ullah alias Bhalu, and gave them the task of murdering Rehman,” he said. Amjad further confessed that he along with other suspects also chased Rehman for almost two months and provided details to banned outfit.

He further claimed that TTP also attacked the house of Rahim Swati with a hand grenade for not giving reward money.
