KARACHI: A man shot dead two members of his family, injured another and then committed suicide by shooting himself in Korangi area of the city on Wednesday.
According to rescue sources, the man identified as Ali opened fire on members of his family, killing his wife Surraiya, 33, and daughter Asia, 15, while injuring his other daughter Rida, 11, in Ilyas Goth area of Korangi. Later, the man shot himself to death.
According to the neighbours of the deceased, Surraiya and Ali were living separately and planning to get a divorce. On the day of the tragedy, Ali came to his wife’s house and demanded to be let in. When Surraiya refused to open the door, he forcibly entered the house and opened fire on his family, killing Surraiya and Asia, injuring Rida, and subsequently shooting and killing himself.
According to Surraiya’s brother, Ali wanted her to sell her house and give him half of the money, but she did not want to.
The bodies and injured were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center for autopsies and treatment, respectively.
