IHC rejects plea to record statements of witnesses on same day in minor’s torture case

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) rejected on Wednesday Islamabad advocate general’s plea to record statements of all three doctors jointly on the same day who prepared the medical report of Tayyaba’s torture case, a minor housemaid.

Justice Aamir Farooq announced reserved judgment on the application moved by Advocate General Mian Abdul Rauf to record statements of all witnesses on the same day. While rejecting the plea, the bench issued a notice to Dr Tariq, a member of the medical board constituted to examine alleged tortured housemaid to record his statement as a witness, on November 24.

It is pertinent to mention here that all three doctors were cited as witnesses from the applicant’s side.

Tayyaba, who was allegedly tortured by former additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ) Raja Khurram Ali Khan and his wife, was rescued from his house in Islamabad with visible wounds on December 28, 2016.

A First Information Report was registered against the judge and his wife, Maheen Zafar, on December 29, 2016.
