ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) lawmaker Aitzaz Ahsan, while throwing subtle shade at Ishaq Dar, said that conclusive evidence against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif was ‘bedridden’ at a hospital in London.
In a comment on Dar’s prolonged stay in London due to medical reasons, the PPP senator on Wednesday said Nawaz would not allow Dar to come back as he could prove to be valuable evidence in proving the corruption against the ousted premier.
Defending the PPP, Ahsan said that his party was not responsible for de-railing the democracy, in fact, Nawaz’s actions and statements against the judiciary were a “threat to democracy”.
On Tuesday, the accountability declared the finance minister a proclaimed offender due to continuous absence from the court hearings.
As the hearing took off on a slow note due to the defence council’s late entry, Dar’s counsel Qusain Faisal Mufti submitted the minister’s third medical report to the court and pleaded the judge to grant his client exemption from appearance.
Dar’s medical report stated that one of his arteries was not functioning properly, adding the minister would have another medical checkup on November 29. The counsel also requested the court a legal representative (pleader) on the minister’s behalf in order to continue proceedings.
