HYDERABAD: The Sindh Bus Owners Association (SBOA) on Wednesday demanded of the Sindh government to enquire into the accident which killed 21 persons on Monday on the National Highway near Sukkur.

A meeting of the association, chaired by Mir Afzal Khan, at their office pointed out that the van involved in the accident was carrying far more passengers than its capacity.

Khan said that the van had a maximum load capacity of 15 people, while it was carrying 28 passengers when the accident took place. He said that overloading of transport vehicles with passengers was a violation of the Regional Transport Authority’s permit as well as the traffic laws of the Motorway Police

He demanded that the provincial government should initiate an inquiry into the incident immediately and provide compensation to the victims’ families.
