In an effort to keep entry tests as transparent as possible, the Sindh government decided on Tuesday to hold all pre-admission entry tests for all government universities and colleges in the province under the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The decision was made after an entry test conducted by the National Testing Service (NTS) was leaked earlier.

The leaked questionnaire for pre-admission for medical colleges in Sindh was leaked on October 21, allegedly with the help of NTS staff. An investigation had also been launched into the incident.

The provincial government had also issued a notification saying that those who appeared in the October 22 test would not pay extra charges for a new entry test.

Around 21,000 students from the province were estimated to appear in the test prepared by Dow University of Health Sciences.

Students also protested to press the government to accept the results, but the provincial government decided to annul the results and directed the quarters concerned to retake the exam on November 11.

The official decision was taken after recommendation of a five-member committee formed by Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to hold a probe into alleged irregularities in the entry test.

The Sindh High Court, in this connection, had also issued notices to the NTS chairperson, the HEC and provincial health authorities earlier this month.
