Flour mill catches fire in Karachi’s Nazimabad

KARACHI: A fire erupted at a flour factory in the metropolis’ Nazmiabad area, late on Monday, when a boiler exploded.

The fire which spread through the top floor when the boiler exploded at around 2:45 AM local time, prompting emergency services authorities to be called to the scene immediately,  took almost three hours to be doused.

Fortunately, there was no labourer inside the two-storey building at the time of the blaze, emergency services reported, adding that the boiler was located on the rooftop.

The flames had engulfed the building’s entire top floor and burnt down inventory worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

Eight fire tenders, two water dousers, and more than a dozen firefighters managed to bring the situations under control and put out the fire.
