ISLAMABAD: Minister for Human Rights Mumtaz Tarar on Tuesday said that those involved in incident of assaulting a teenage girl in Dera Ismail Khan would not be spared and strict action should be taken against them as per the law.
He stated this while responding to Calling Attention Notice regarding cases of human rights abuse, especially against women during recent weeks in the country. The minister said that the federal government immediately reacted to the incident soon after its happening.
He said that a senior government official reached in the area, lodged the FIR under non-bailable offence and helped in recording the statement before the magistrate. He said that FIR has been registered against nine persons and three accused has also given confessional statements.
The minister said that one accused was still absconding and efforts were underway to arrest him. He said that such incidents can’t be tolerated and the provincial government was also taking steps to arrest the criminal.
