RAWALPINDI: Rawalpindi City Traffic Police (CTP) is making all-out efforts to regulate traffic on city roads besides special arrangements made to control traffic aimed at avoiding traffic jams particularly near Faizabad, said Rawalpindi Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Yousaf Ali Shahid.
Talking to APP he said, a traffic plan was devised in this regard which is being implemented in order to avoid traffic jams on the city roads. Increased numbers of traffic wardens, with 30 traffic assistants transferred from Attock, Chakwal and Jhelum, have been deployed for traffic duties.
He also informed that all the leaves of the traffic wardens were cancelled so that maximum number of deployment on city roads could be ensured. Besides, all the traffic officers and wardens were directed to remain present at their duty points, particularly during peak hours, so that no traffic jams could be witnessed, he added.
He Yousaf Ali also urged the motorists not to park their vehicles in no parking areas as illegal and wrong parking caused a traffic jam on the roads.
The traffic police helpline 1915 is also providing 24-hour help and assistance to the citizens.
The CTO informed that all out efforts were being made by Rawalpindi traffic police to facilitate the road users so that they could get uninterrupted traffic flow and reach their destination within shortest possible time. Traffic police officers have been directed to keep a vigilant eye on suspicious vehicles. Strict action in accordance with the law has also been ordered against vehicles having tinted glasses or moving in the city without number plates, he added.
He also said that traffic wardens have also been directed to work with dedication and commitment and ensure the traffic flow so that traffic mess, particularly on congested roads, could be averted and the citizens could be provided relief.
