Police on Sunday thwarted an attempt to smuggle heroin to India by seizing the drug at Wagah Railway Station.
The two-and-half kilogrammes of contraband, worth millions of rupees, was found in a cargo train, en-route to India, stashed inside furniture. The authorities are further investigating the matter.
Last month, Customs officials foiled a smuggling bid by arresting a Nigerian passenger in Karachi. Customs spokesperson said 600 grammes of brown heroin powder was recovered from the passenger, Kelechi Franca Earnest, who was travelling to Nigeria on Turkish Airlines flight.
