Civil society demands reinstatement of honest education officer

BADIN: The quality of education in the country will suffer after an honest education officer in Badin was suspended over the recommendation of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).

According to details, Sindh Education Department had suspended an honest Badin Education Officer (TEO) Syed Imran Shah the other day, along with other education officials, over the recommendations of the PAC. The representatives of the civil society termed the suspension of the honest officer as a conspiracy to further destroy the education system of Badin.

They said that all members of the PAC were associated with political parties and influential people of the area, while adding that members of PAC have suspended more than 22 education officers in Sindh in false corruption cases.

It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Shah was famous as an honest officer in the district. It was due to his efforts that many closed schools were made functional to the relief of parents and children, who were deprived from receiving education since long.

On the suspension of the honest officer, representatives of the civil society, including Advocate Ram Kolhi, Abu Talib Khaskheli, Ali Anwar Shah, Ali Ansari, Shahid Jokhio and members of Badin Press Club, gathered and condemned the suspension while terming Imran as a sincere and honest education officer. They also said that the officer was famous throughout the district because of his honesty and utmost dedication to the cause of education.

They maintained that the order of the suspension was not a reasonable step as it showed that the people involved in this episode wanted to dismantle the education network in the district and keep locals illiterate.

They demanded the government to cancel the suspension orders and restore the honest officer on his post. They warned to launch protests if a decision in this connection was not taken at the earliest.
