ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Mayor and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz said Sunday that building regulation is crucial to save precious lives and properties in the federal capital, adding that no laxity will be tolerated in implementing the relevant rules.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting to review the progress of CDA Building Control Section (BCS) for the month of October. Senior officers of the authority, including Planning and Design Member Asad Mehboob Kiyani, attended the meeting.
The CDA chairman said that usefulness of BCS was increasing with every passing day. The building control officials should undertake their responsibilities in an active manner, he added.
He also said that exacting actions should be taken in case of violations of applicable building codes. BCS should expand its area of operations beyond sectoral limits of the capital as well, he added.
Sheikh Anser apprised that BCS issued 109 building plans approvals, 32 completion certificates and approvals in 124 cases of NOCs/commercialisation charges during the month of October. The BCS received Rs 87,920,140 as fee for the above-mentioned heads during the same month.
BCS director further briefed the meeting that that BCS-I section approved 33 cases of building plans during the month of October. Similarly, during the same month, 14 cases for completion of certificates and 45 cases related to commercialisation charges/NOCs were also approved by BCS-I section. BCS-I section received Rs 71,657,795 during the month of October against the above-mentioned approvals.
The meeting was briefed that BCS-II section approved seven cases of completion certificates during October. Similarly, 13 cases of building plans were also approved. BCS-II section approved 55 cases of commercialisation charges/NOCs. Collectively, BCS-II section received an amount of Rs 2,590,080 during the same month.
BCS director further informed the meeting that BCS-III section had issued 21 completion certificates during the month of October. Similarly, BCS-III approved 63 building plans, while 24 cases of commercialisation charges/NOCs were also approved. BCS-III received a total amount of Rs 13,672,265 during the same month.
