ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and right hand of late Benazir Bhutto Nawabzada Ghazanfar Gul on Friday joined Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). With this move, Gul has ended his three-decade long association with the PPP.
Talking to reporters, Gul said that he had no reservations with the leadership or workers of PPP, adding that he left the party as he was not comfortable with the current corporate culture that has become an integral part of the party.
He said, “Though I have spent 30 years in the PPP, I have decided to remain loyal with the PML-N for the rest of my life.” Replying to a query, he said that it was not necessary to make an official announcement on joining the PML-N since it was not a nikah ceremony.
Commenting on the political environment of the country, Gul said, “PML-N is rising as an anti-establishment party, whereas, PPP is trying to cozy up to the establishment. By doing so, the latter will lose its popularity in Sindh.”
