MUZAFFARABAD: Chief Justice of Azad Jammu Kashmir Justice Muhammad Ibrahim Zia on Saturday administered the oath of central and the district bodies of the Milli Rabta Council, established by the Islamic Ideology Council (IIC).

Islamic scholars from different schools of thought have been included in the newly-established council to promote religious and mutual unity with consensus in the state. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Justice Zia said that the Milli Rabta Council has been formed under the passion to avoid differences and negative propaganda.

“There are two main classes in our society – the political leadership and the religious scholars and the path of the rest of the society goes with their thoughts and actions. So unity between these two can change the map of the society in a few years,” he said.

He said that Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider and his team expressed interest in establishing the council with sincerity, good faith and spirit. “It is hoped that the prime minister will continue to patronise and cooperate in making the council active and vibrant. If necessary, the government should also provide necessary resources,” he opined.

Addressing the event, Prime Minister Farooq Haider said that the role of the scholars for creating religious harmony was commendable. “Legislation on the finality of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) will be made in accordance with the resolution approved by the Legislative Assembly,” he announced.

Similarly, religious communities should also give their suggestions, he said, adding that his government wants to make a system in which deserving and poor could get maximum benefits. Terming Zakaat as religious responsibility, he said that there was a verdict of the Supreme Court regarding the Zakat payment. He said that distribution of Zakaat has been improved.

He reiterated that there should be a code of conduct for the scholars and all schools of thought should work on the same time for Azaan with mutual consultation. Prime Minister Haider said that the government has taken measures to raise the quality of the Islamic seminaries so that students do not feel incompetent and they can contest with contemporary requirements.
