SRINAGAR: Five “suspected militants” and an Indian air force commando were killed during a fierce gunbattle on Saturday in Indian-held Kashmir, which also left another soldier injured, the Indian military said.
The shootout began when soldiers cordoned off a neighbourhood in the northern area of Hajin following a tip-off that “armed militants” were hiding there, said army spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia.
“Five militants have been killed in the operation,” Kalia told AFP. “One IAF (India Air Force) soldier was killed and another army soldier was injured.”
On Friday a militant and a police officer were killed in the outskirts of Srinagar during a brief shootout.
Anti-India sentiment runs deep in Kashmir’s mostly Muslim population and most people support the separatists’ cause. Nearly 70,000 people have been killed in the uprising and the ensuing Indian military crackdown.

  1. I am glad 5 terrorists were eliminated. The world and their respective families are better without these murderers. More than living here and now these guys are interested in some kind of Jannat with 72 virgins. Who tells them such lies?

  2. Mr. Bashu does not understand that Kashmiris do not want Indian Colonial occupation. Kashmir has the highest percentage of occupation forces for a given population in the world. Secular? India has chosen a Hindu Religious fanatic as their prime minister.
Even US government denied Modi entry into USA because of his involvement in the massacre of Muslims in Indian state of Gujrat.
According to Mr. Bashu’s logic thousands of Indians killed by British General Dyre at Jalianawala Bagh massacre were all TERRORISTS.
If India is a Democracy, it shoud get out of Kashmir.
