ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Police Friday arrested three persons involved in preparing fake No Objection Certificates (NOCs) in order to use tinted glasses on vehicles.
Taking notice of fake NOCs obtained through dubious channels, Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Sajid Kiani assigned the task to Superintendent of Police (Industrial Area) Liaqat Hyat Niazi to ensure arrest of those issuing fake NOCs for use of tinted glass on vehicles. The SP Liaqat Hyat Niazi constituted a special team headed by Noon police Station House Officer (SHO) Inspector Nazar Muhammad Qureshi, Sub-Inspectors Malik Mumtaz and Umer Hyat, along with Constable Abdul Majeed.
The police team intercepted two Toyota Corolla cars (LX-856 and SLA-1070) during special checking at Jhangi Syedan and asked the drivers, Nematullah and Tahir Khan, about the reason behind using tinted glasses. They showed the police team a fake NOC allegedly issued by the ministry concerned, which was found to be bogus after verification.
Later, the car owners confessed to have prepared the NOCs through an unofficial channel. On this a police team arrested them along with their accomplice Hasnain Shah. A case had been registered against them and further investigation were underway.
Meanwhile, Assistant Sub-Inspector Muhammad Rasheed from Kohsar police arrested Atif Ali for stealing a mobile phone worth Rs 25,000, while Sub-Inspector Muhammad Nawaz nabbed a bootlegger Qasiar and recovered 10 litres of wine from his possession.
