ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Mayor and Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Sheikh Anser Aziz said Friday that Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) will provide state of the art facilities to the emerging sportsmen from the capital city.
He expressed these views while awarding a shield to professional bodybuilder Ausaf Yaqoob, who won two gold medals in Asian Bodybuilding Championship held at Singapore.
On the occasion, Union Council I-9 Chairman Sardar Mehtab, Union Council G-8 Chairman Raja Waheedul Hassan, representatives of traders of G-9 Karachi Company, and elected representatives from different union councils were also present.
Anser said that Ausaf Yaqoob was a trader of Karachi Company, G-9 and he had opted for bodybuilding on his own. He not only won the title of Mr Islamabad, but also won two gold medals in the Asian Bodybuilding Championship held at Singapore, he added. The championship saw participation of around 60 contestants from different Asian countries.
The CDA chairman also said that youth of the federal capital possessed massive talent and MCI would take all possible steps to promote this talent. He said that in order to promote different sports like bodybuilding, MCI in collaboration with the private sector, was providing improved facilities to sportsmen in the federal capital.
He further said that libraries and fitness centres situated in different sectors of the capital would be upgraded and made functional with the help of local elected representatives of different union councils.
