KARACHI: Japanese diplomats, appreciating the operational preparedness of Special Security Unit (SSU) Sindh Police, have sought assistance from SSU in preparation of security plan and arrangements for peacefully organising next Olympic Games scheduled to be held in Japan.
A two-member delegation comprising Japanese Embassy’s First Secretary Masanori Yasue and Vice Consul and Police Attache Yukio Matsumoto visited various sections of the SSU Headquarters on Friday.
Commandant SSU Maqsood Ahmed briefed about the functioning of various departments of the special unit and informed about the measures adopted to set up country’s first Special Weapons and Tactics (S.W.A.T) team.
He also informed about advance professional training being provided to commandos and issuance of ISO certificate by United Kingdom Accreditation System (UKAS) Britain on maintaining international standard in the field of performing counterterrorism operations and provision of foolproof security services to vital installations, national and foreign dignitaries.
The delegation lauded the existing professional standard maintained during the course of work in management, administration and counterterrorism operations of SSU Sindh Police. The Japanese diplomats also appreciated the operational preparedness of SSU.
Maqsood also briefed the high-level Japanese delegate on special arrangements on mega-events and existing security threats, etc.
The delegation was highly impressed with the measures being adopted to improve capabilities of SSU Commandos aimed to fight terrorism and ensure foolproof security. They also acknowledged that SSU is an ideal force as per international standards.
Maqsood assured the officials of the mission that SSU would provide all possible assistance to prepare security plan and arrangements for organising Olympic Games peacefully in Japan.
