Zubair says elections will be held on time

THATTA: Coming general elections would be held on time and there would be no compromise in this regard, said Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair.

Addressing a ceremony of providing Sui gas facilities to Thatta villages at Goth Gulsher Brohi here on Thursday, he said that talks about early polls were mere speculations, adding that the coming elections would be held on their schedule. He said that the federal government is releasing funds to the provincial governments for uplift projects.

He also said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in his visit to Thatta had announced special schemes for local people including construction of a hospital and issuing health cards. He added that the performance of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was not satisfactory.

Zubair also said that all the provinces have agreed to one per cent block audit regarding census. He added that huge sums are being invested under the CPEC which would benefit all provinces.
