Former interior minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) stalwart Ch Nisar Ali Khan called on Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Thursday and urged him to take measures to end the current blockade at Faizabad Interchange.

Nisar told PM Abbasi that blockade of such a critical route is causing people severe hardship which should not be allowed at any cost. “The government should take immediate measure to resolve the issue,” said the former interior minister.

Hundreds of protestors belonging to Tehreek Labaik Ya Rasool Allah led by cleric Khadim Rizvi continued the blockade of Faizabad on Thursday even as the Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered them to open the roads.

Roughly 2,000 protesters are demanding the resignation of Federal Law Minister Zahid Hamid over an amendment to the prophethood declaration clause in the Electoral Reforms Bill, 2017.

On Tuesday, three police officials were injured in a clash with the protesters.
