Imran says terror cases against him ‘politically motivated’

PTI chairman claims PML-N government drawing last breaths

ISLAMABAD/KHANPUR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan on Wednesday demanded the dismissal of terrorism cases filed against him, saying these were politically motivated.

In a statement submitted to the police in all four terrorism cases filed against him during the 2014 sit-ins, he stated that to hold a protest was his legal and political right, not a crime.

The statement submitted in the Secretariat Police Station by Imran Khan’s lawyer stated that Imran Khan was the chairman of the ‘biggest political party’ in the country and his sit-in was against money-laundering and corruption prevalent in the country.

It is pertinent to mention here that an anti-terror court had accepted Imran Khan’s bail plea in SSP Junejo attack case, attack on parliament case, attack on PTV case and forcefully freeing workers from police custody case.

Meanwhile, Imran claimed that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders were parting ways with Nawaz Sharif, and the government was likely to dissolve before time.

Talking to media personnel in Khanpur, he said that elections should be conducted within 90 days if PML-N government was ended.

Flaunting his billion-tree tsunami in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), he said that the PTI-led government had planted 1.18 billion trees and added that the government was also fighting against the timber mafia.

Discouraging taking foreign loans, he said the government could earn enough money from tourism if catered properly and then there would be no need to take loans from anyone.
