A police officer and three members of his family were killed in an attack in Quetta’s Nawan Killi area on Wednesday evening, police officials said.
According to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Abdul Razzaq Cheema, Superintendent of Police (SP) Muhammad Ilyas, along with his wife, son and brother, was heading somewhere on a vehicle when he came under attack by unidentified gunmen. He added that the attackers then fled on their motorcycle.
Police officials reached the crime scene soon after the attack and started the investigation. The dead bodies of the SP, his wife and son Abdul Wahab, and Advocate Muhammad Adeel were shifted to the Civil Hospital in Quetta.
One passerby, who was injured in the attack, was also shifted to the Civil Hospital by rescuers.
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi strongly condemned the attack and prayed for eternal peace for the departed souls.
