Rangers arrest 14 alleged criminals during crackdowns

KARACHI: Rangers on Wednesday claimed to have apprehended 14 criminals, including two activists of a political party, during a crackdown in the metropolis.

A Rangers spokesperson said that the paramilitary force carried out a targeted raid in Awami Colony and Korangi industrial area, apprehending two political party activists, Muhammad Kamran and Ishtiaq Ahmed alias Alam, allegedly involved in target killing, extortion, robberies and wall chalking.

Separately, a Rangers’ party conducted search operations in Malir area and arrested two Lyari gang war members, Shahzaib and Ubaid Iqbal. During search operations conducted in Khokhrapar, Korangi and Zaman Town areas, the Rangers detained 10 more criminals.

According to the Rangers, the accused were involved in robberies, snatching mobile phones, drug peddling and target killing.  The paramilitary force also claimed to have recovered weapons, contrabands and drugs from their possession, adding that the recovered items would be handed over to the police for further legal proceedings.
